KERNERSVILLE-Betty Smith Crews, 83, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born April 4, 1932 in Chatham Co. to the late Javan and Annie Bare Smith. Betty was a lifelong member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church. She was dedicated to her faith, church and family. A graduate of Silk Hope School; she also attended Kings Business College and graduated from Greensboro Cosmetology School. She worked as a cosmetologist for 32 years and loved to work in her flowers and garden. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, James (Dick) Crews; and three brothers, June, Earle and R.D. Smith. Surviving are her husband, Otha C. Smith; son, Craig Crews and wife, Trish; daughter, Debbie Crews; granddaughter, Katye Rae Crews; and one brother, Joe Smith. A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rorie officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:15 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
