Mrs. Betty Hackett Carter, 73, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. Mrs. Carter was born on January 24, 1939 in Roanoke, VA to Perry Henry and Lillian Mary Staton Hackett. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Carter loved spending time with her friends and doing crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Wayne Carter; her parents; two brothers, Perry Hackett and Gerald Hackett; and her stepfather, Barney Howard. She is survived by her daughter Pam Caudle and husband Darell of Winston-Salem; a son Ted F. Carter of Winston-Salem; a special grandson, Josh Caudle, of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Don Hackett and wife Nancy, Norris ""Red"" Hackett and wife Carol, and Wayne Hackett, all of Winston-Salem; and a special sister-in-law, Brenda Hackett of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Parklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Jennings O'Neil officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, March 26, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Parkway. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
