Our loving and precious mother and grandmother, Betty Lou Livingston Boyd left us on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 to be with her Jesus, Lord and Savior. She was reunited with her husband, Jesse Lee Boyd, who preceded her in death January 31, 1996. She was born May 29, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late Lloyd Livingston and Nora Grace Hubbard Livingston. She attended Mineral Springs School until she married the love of her life, Jesse, July 5th, 1944. Mrs. Boyd retired from Hanes Hosiery after 40 years of service where she worked in the employee store for many years. She was saved as a young girl, attending church all of her life. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church for many years. When health permitted, she attended Bible Fellowship Baptist Church. Formerly of Winston-Salem, she lived in the Rural Hall area for 40 years. In 2005 she was diagnosed with myosthenia gravis. Her two daughters and her grandson cared for her until she developed dementia. She then made her home with her daughter, Donna, until she entered Bermuda Commons Nursing and Rehab. She always gave of herself to others and was an inspiration to all. She enjoyed country and Christian music, singing, and listening to Joy radio every day until her passing. She was a very spiritual and compassionate person always writing inspirational messages to her family. Also preceding her in death are her, parents, three brothers, Leroy ""Bubby"" Livingston, Lloyd ""Gwyn"" Livingston, and Wilmer Livingston; a sister, Frances Bumgardner; one niece and four nephews. Surviving are two daughters, Brenda B. Shore and husband Larry of Yadkinville, Donna B. Parish and husband Ron of Winston-Salem; a very special grandson, Jesse S. Myers whom she loved very much; two sisters, Lucile ""Sis"" Beaman and husband Tom of King, Helen ""Paige"" Vernon and husband John of Rural Hall; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Lawson and Ina Livingston; a brother-in-law, William Boyd; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also a very special friend, Vickie Mickel. A funeral service will be held 1:00PM Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Bible Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Leon Wishon, Pastor Jimmy Lancaster, and Rev. Langston McArthur officiating. She will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00PM until 9:00PM Friday at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall and following the service at 2201 Chipwood Ln, Winston-Salem.
