Betty Sechrist Bledsoe, 78, of Winston-Salem went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 23, 2009 after a brief stay at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born July 6, 1930 in Surry County to Charlie J. and Lelia Snow Sechrist. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class, who ministered to her throughout her illness. She was retired from Southern Bell after 35 years of service. Mrs.Bledsoe was preceded in death by her husband, Warren T. Bledsoe, three brothers, James, Odell and Charlie Sechrist, Jr. and by two sisters, Juanita Locke and Sylvia Messick. Surviving are a brother, Ralph Sechrist of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Dorothy Best of Winston-Salem and Patricia Lyall and husband, Marsh of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; four sisters in law, Emily Sechrist, Margie Sechrist both of Winston-Salem, Vertice Sechrist of Kernersville, and Lillie Scott and husband Buddy of East Bend; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Chapman and Rev. Gary Byrum officiating.Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Children's Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, 5000 Country Club Rd., W-S, N.C. 27104 or to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice home, 101 Hospice Lane, W-S, N.C. 27103. Betty took great pride in her family. She treasured her close ties to her nieces and nephews, extended family and close friends.
