Betty Bentley

KERNERSVILLE - Betty Jo McMahan Bentley, 85, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at her home. Betty was born on January 9, 1933 in Anderson County, TN to Arthur Hobert and Minnie Hill McMahan. Betty was the last living charter member of Manna Baptist Church, serving as their only pianist until 1997. She and her husband, Raymond, also helped with the youth program for many years. Betty shared an abundance of love with her family and friends, with her favorite hobby being spending time with her grandchildren! Betty's kindred spirit will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bentley; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Tommy Golding; son-in-law, Jimmy Lashmit; five brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are three daughters, Anita Lashmit, Angie Bentley-Oumarou (Mahamadou), both of Kernersville, and Sharon Key (Lester) of Mocksville; one son, Joe Bentley (Derolene) of Yadkinville; six grandchildren, Brandon Bentley, Robert Perdue, Eric Golding, Bradley and Kenny Bentley, and Amy Price; ten great grandchildren, Braelyn and Jackson Bentley, Usher Oumarou, Casey and Lauren Golding, Jordan Harmon, Preston Mathis, Kameron Price, Donnie and Alex McCoy; and three great-great grandchildren, Sophia, Reagan, and Grant; three sisters, Juanita Rouse, Wilma Epperson, and Carol Gorbett; one brother, Kenneth McMahan; and a beloved caregiver, Shandy Kirkland.
A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Robert Motsinger and Sammy Motsinger officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
