Bettie Bodenhamer Carroll

Bettie Lou Bodenhamer Carroll, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully Monday, May 11, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House after an extended illness. Bettie was born November 20, 1930 to Mary Bodenhamer and Howard Davis, both of whom preceded her in death. In 1950, she married the love of her life, Lawrence W. ""Nookie"" Carroll, who also preceded her in death. Together they had two wonderful sons, Lawrence ""Windy"" Carroll of the home and the late Karl A. ""Tony"" Carroll. In addition to her son Windy, Bettie is survived by grandchildren, Amber Carroll and Samuel Carroll; great-grandson, Anthony Hicks; sister, Mildred B. Johnson; brother, Robert ""Poochie"" Shutt; nieces, Sue Widener, Hope J. Campbell, Sarah Marler and Carol Rae Posey (Charles); nephew, Lyle Shutt (Tracy); and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Bettie retired from Southern Bell after 37 years of service. She served under Dr. Ron McManus at First Assembly of God in Winston-Salem as Head of Women's Ministries for 16 years. She was active on the Board of Directors for Teen Challenge in Harmony, NC and was an active Intervention Counselor. Bettie was presently very active in the ministry at Redland Pentecostal Holiness Church in Advance, NC.

Bettie had acquired a very large church family over the years, all of whom she loved very much. She loved the Lord and we know the angels are rejoicing as she entered the gates of Heaven and God said, ""Well done, my faithful servant! Well done!""

A celebration of Bettie's life will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Dave Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will follow the visitation at Parklawn Memorial Park.
