Berrie Lee Bailey,73, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at his home in Lexington, NC, after a long fought battle with Cancer. He was born July 13, 1936 in Davie County to the late Clyde and Louise Bailey. In addition to his parents, his brothers, Larry, Richard and Franklin Bailey; and his granddaughter, Taylor Bailey, preceded him in death. Berrie Lee was retired from R.J. Reynolds after 22 years of service. Berrie Lee was a loving and dedicated husband to Paige for 54 years. He was an extraordinary father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family more than anything. Berrie Lee always put others care and needs before his own; he was an extremely selfless person. Berrie Lee never complained, even during the final days of his painful battle with cancer, he was always cheerful and happy. Everyone that met Berrie Lee developed a special love for him, it was impossible to know him and not love him. Berrie Lee was a devoted member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Paige Bailey of the home, a daughter Debbie Breedlove and husband Paul of Advance, a son Terry Bailey, Sr., of Lexington; a sister Barbara Ann Moore of Moyock; one granddaughter, Amber Smith and husband David of Okinawa, Japan and two grandsons Terry Bailey, Jr. and wife Stacy of Lexington and Forrest Breedlove of Advance; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Bailey and Kali Easton. Special thanks to Buford and Carol Phillips, Jimmy, Marilyn and Justin Shinn, Helen Walser, Mary Walser, Tom Barger, Brian and Christy Musgrave, Paula Booze, Gayle Moorefield, Ruby Leonard, Gary, Karen and Amy Miller, Gary and Vickie Jones, Tracy Bailey, Hospice of Davidson County Nurses; Leslie and Christa and Good Hope Methodist Church. An extra special thank you to Reedy Creek Baptist Church and to Melinda Leonard for all that she has done for us during this difficult time; and to Piedmont Oncology, Dr. Eugene Paschold and Paula Norman, RN. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00pm, Friday, March 12, 2010 at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, Lexington, NC, with Pastors Egbert Craven and Gary Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Hayworth- Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
