Bernard Thomas 'Bunny' Wilkerson

Mr. Bernard Thomas ""Bunny"" Wilkerson, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Wilkerson was born on September 16, 1927 in Brunswick County, VA to the late Mr. George Thomas and Mabel Virginia Wilkerson. After graduation from high school Mr. Wilkerson enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country during World War II. Following his service to his country, Mr. Wilkerson returned home and married his beloved wife, Edith Talbott Wilkerson. Bunny retired from the United States Postal Service with 29 years of service. He was also a member of Ardmore Baptist Church since 1966 and a member of the Ardmore Community Club. Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife, Edith Talbott Wilkerson and a son, Phillip Wilkerson. Surviving Mr. Wilkerson are two sons, Ricky Wilkerson (Cindy) of Advance, NC and Darrell Wilkerson (Melanie) of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Jennifer Wilkerson (Chris), Neal Wilkerson and Spencer Wilkerson; a daughter-in-law, Becky; two brothers, Willie Wilkerson of Portsmith, VA and James Wilkerson of Virgilina, VA and a sister, Patsy Gayle of Virgilina, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Ardmore Baptist Church with the Rev. Christa Warise officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with full military honors. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
