Bernard B. "Sonny" Stout, Jr.

Mr. Bernard B. ""Sonny"" Stout, Jr., 72, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at his daughter's home in Lakeland, FL. Mr. Stout was born in Sequatchie, TN on February 8, 1944, to the late Bernard B. Stout, Sr. and Beatrice Marie Perry Stout Huffman. Sonny drove a truck from the time he turned 18 years old. He ended his career at EPES Transport in Greensboro, retiring following 15 years of service. Sonny had the most gentle and tender spirit, with love and support for all those lives that he touched throughout his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the man that raised him after his father died on D-Day, ""Papa"" Huffman; and his wife of 38 years who journeyed to Heaven to await his arrival just two months ago, Brenda Victoria Seagraves Stout. Sonny is survived by his daughter, Jackie McColister (Chuck) of Lakeland, FL; son, Albert Lee Stout of Winston-Salem; granddaughters, Victoria Oldham (Jerry) of Winter Haven, FL, Rachel McColister of Tampa, FL; grandsons, Joshua McColister of San Diego, CA, Gabriel McColister of Lemoore, CA and Elijah McColister of Lakeland, FL; great-granddaughter, Raelyn Oldham of Winter Haven, FL; sisters, Nancy Marshall (John) of King, NC and Susan Barbour of Winston-Salem; and a niece, Leigh Anna Arnold (Travis) of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Archie Creed officiating. Interment will follow at Swan Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Jonesville, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
