WINSTON-SALEM, NC-Mr. Bernard ""Bernie"" C. Kiser, 82, of Winston-Salem, departed this life on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Walnut Ridge Assisted Living Horizons Memory Care Unit in Walnut Cove, NC following a period of illness. Bernie was born on September 10, 1932 in Lebanon, VA to the late Maurice and Etta Cooper Kiser. He served his country in the United States Army. Bernie was employed with McLean Trucking Company and went on to retire from Stroh's Brewery after 25 years of service. Bernie lived in Wytheville, VA for close to 26 years and always enjoyed the outdoors and hunting with his close friends. Mr. Kiser is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Kiser of the home; one son, Ron Kiser and wife, Cherry of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Nadine Kiser of Kernersville, NC; special close friend of the family, Anita Bennett of Kernersville, NC; and numerous friends and coworkers. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Jack T. Nance officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the service at the mausoleum chapel. The family wishes to thank Chris and Ken Berrier and express their sincere gratitude to all of the staff at Walnut Ridge Horizons Memory Care Unit for their compassionate care and love for Bernie. He touched so many lives with his precious humor and he never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
