KING WINSTON-SALEM, Mr. Bernard Thomas ""Bernie"" King, 96, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Bernie was born in the Westfield Community on May 12, 1912 the son of the late Thomas and Kate Atkinson King. Mr. King was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for 54 years. A member of the Forsyth Lions Club. Bernie owned and operated Bernie's Lunch in Ogburn Station for a number of years and King Mobile Home Estates. In addition to his parents Bernie was preceded in death by two brothers; Howard and Delmar (Tom) King. Surviving is his wife of almost 74 years Mrs. Beulah (Little Woman) Priddy King of the home, a son Thomas Welford ""Tommy"" and wife Frances King of Winston-Salem, two grandchildren, Gregory (Susan) King, Sr. and Beth (Kevin) Hicks. Four great grandchildren, Steffie and Gregory King, Jr. and Mason and Emily Hicks. Step-mother: Lena King of Rural Hall, one sister Virginia Long of Winston-Salem, one brother Charles (Gilda) King of Advance. A special cousin Louise Lawson of Winston-Salem. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, October 20, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Winston-Salem by Dr. Cecil Cave and Dr. Gus Thomas. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Sunday evening October 19, 2008 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.
