Mr. Benny Ray LaFone, 83, of Pfafftown died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1929 in Hickory, the son of the late Vernon and Edna Garrison LaFone. Ben was a gentle soul with a kind spirit toward everyone. He loved his family and his dog Casey. He was employed with American General Life Insurance for over 35 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was an usher for several years. Everyone who knew him seemed to connect with him. He attended Hickory High School and Clevenger Business College in Hickory. In his young years he loved water skiing and boating; even building his own boat. He was a good father, with a lot of patience, and a wonderful husband. Ben was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Betty, three children, Terri Wilson and husband Gene of Hickory, Nick LaFone of Asheville, and Angela Evans and husband Mark of Winston-Salem, and of course Casey, his ""fourth child""; two grandchildren, Megan Wilson of Hickory and Andrew Epperson of Winston-Salem; two great grandchildren, Noah and Nia Wilson; and a sister, Bonnie Larrimore of Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in the Angel Room of Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. A private burial will be held at Catawba Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen VA 23058-5216 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
