Mr. Bennie L. Fletcher, Jr., 88, of Bermuda Run passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 at his home. He was born July 05, 1923 in Washington, DC to Bennie L. and Clarissa Mitchell Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church. He had served as Trustee and a Board Member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Arlington, VA. Mr. Fletcher served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was the recipient of the Bronze Star for valor and the Purple Heart. He graduated from George Washington University Law School and was a member of the Mason's, Shriner's and the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Fletcher was an attorney for many years and served as Treasurer of Arlington County for 12 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Bennie L. Fletcher III. Surviving are his loving wife, Nadine Fletcher; a son, Gregory W. Fletcher and wife Megan of Middleburg, VA; a daughter, Janice F. Gentry and husband Buddy of Lexington, NC; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Louise Hierling of Chantilly, VA; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Fletcher of Charleston, SC and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Bermuda Village at a later date. Mr. Fletcher will be inurned in the Clemmons Presbyterian Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davie Co., 377 Hospital St., Suite 103, Mocksville, NC 27028 or to the Bermuda Village Chapel Fund, 142 Bermuda Village Drive, Bermuda Run, NC, 27006.
