KERNERSVILLE- Benjamin (Ben) M. Swaim, Jr., beloved brother, uncle and son transitioned to his heavenly home unexpectedly on October 5, 2015. He was the youngest son of the late Bertha and Benjamin Swaim, Sr. Ben enjoyed many years of retirement from AT & T. Some of his happiest times were spent celebrating Christmas with his youngest sister, Nancy, her late husband, Lawrence and their family. Ben always made Christmas extra special for them. Ben was a talented artist who loved the beauty of flowers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Raper and brothers, Billy and Lawrence Swaim, Sr. Surviving of the home are the luckiest Yorkies in the world, his constant loving companions, Abby and Ella; sisters, Nancy Branch of Kernersville, Fern Daniel and Edith Hicks, both of the Brookridge Retirement Home in Winston-Salem. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Gina Sides (Randy) and Tonya Crump (Stan), and their families, who all loved him dearly. Per Ben's wishes, a Graveside Service for his family and close friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Waughtown Cemetery in Winston-Salem with Rev. Glenn Murphy officiating. Memorials may be made to Waughtown Cemetery, payable to the cemetery in care of Steve Morgan, Treasurer, 2833 Birchwood Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
