Mrs. Barbara Jean Westmoreland, 77, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation. She was born June 22, 1938 the daughter of the late Arch and Nannie Goins Bennett. Mrs. Westmoreland was a member of Rural Hall Church of Christ and was retired from K&W Cafeteria with over 24 years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Westmoreland and a sister, Mary Frances Stokes. She is survived by a daughter; Rebecca Mays (Paul) of Germanton, three sons; Terry M. Bennett (Michelle) of Rural Hall, Steve Westmoreland (Shannon) of Germanton and Charles Robert Westmoreland (Shannon) of King, five grandchildren; Abbie Bennett, Taylor Westmoreland, Ryan Westmoreland, Jessica Mays and Brian Mays (Ashley), a sister; Jo Ann Ashby (Wilkie) of Walnut Cove, a special niece; Barbara Richardson and two special nephews; Chris Jeffords and Bradley Jeffords. Funeral services for Mrs. Westmoreland will be conducted 11:00 Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall. Burial will follow in Rural Hall Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 this evening, Tuesday, June 30th at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall and at other times at Mrs. Westmoreland's home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Cancer Services of Winston-Salem, 3175 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Forsyth Humane Society, 61 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the doctors and staff of Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation, Derrick L. Davis Jr. Cancer Center and the Oncology Department of Forsyth Medical Center.
