Barbara Joann South

Mrs. Barbara ""Joann"" South, 74, went to be with her Lord on September 23, 2008 at The Oaks at Forsyth. She was born in Davidson County to the late Edgar Lawrence ""E.L."" and Carrie Kiger Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd J. South. Mrs. South was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church and retired from the City of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Alderman office and the Agriculture Extension Service with thirty years of service. She is survived by two daughters, Lisa S. Davis and husband William of Lexington, and Carrie South of Winston-Salem; and two grandsons, William ""Billy"" Davis, Jr. of Lexington and Christian Lloyd South of Winston-Salem; her aunt, Dulcie Kiger of Winston-Salem and a special sister in Christ, Dovie Fox of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, September 26, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Ed Sears and the Rev. Mark Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm today at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of Joann's caregivers for their loving care and compassion.
