Mrs. Barbara Mae Isgett Hutchens Shropshire, 83, of Germanton passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 at her home. She was born April 6, 1925 in Winston-Salem, the daughter of the late Robert Carl Isgett and Alta Mae Shadrick Isgett. She graduated from Mineral Springs School in 1942 and retired from Western Electric Co. in 1982. She was a member of Germanton Baptist Church, Waughtown Senior Citizens Club and Piedmont Airlines Retirees Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester V. Hutchens, her second husband, Moir Edward Shropshire, her twin sons, Jerry Gray Hutchens and Terry Ray Hutchens, one brother, Robert Carl Isgett, Jr. and two sisters, Hazel M. Smith and Carlene I. Lentz. Survivors include one daughter, Carole ""Karole"" Cockerham and husband, Charles of Germanton; two sons, Donnie Vernon Hutchens and Steven Wayne Hutchens of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Teresa Holyfield and husband , Don of Myrtle Beach, SC, Al Goins and wife, Krystal of Mt. Airy, Jody Wooten and Jerry Gray Hutchens, Jr. of Winston-Salem; seven great grandchildren; three great great grandsons; one sister, Iris M. Randleman of King; a special step-mother and friend, Rachel M. Isgett of Winston-Salem; two brothers, William Keith Isgett and Steven Lee Isgett and wife Nancy of Winston-Salem; two special aunts, Arietta Painter and Louise Isgett of Winston-Salem and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Dennis Collins and Dr. Cecil Cave officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Germanton Baptist Church, 6810 S. Germanton Road, Germanton, NC 27019 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to say a special thanks to Germanton Baptist Church members and friends who prayed, visited faithfully and supported our family. Also a special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care staff as well as KBR for the love and care that was provide and shown to mother during a lengthy battle with cancer.
