Barbara 'Bobbie' Transou Reid

Barbara ""Bobbie"" T. Reid, 81, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Reid was born October 11, 1931 to the late Claude Edward and Ruth Mills Transou. Loving wife, mother, grandmother was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Peggy Hull. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 63 years, G.E. (Junior) Reid, Jr.; two sons, Blake (Robin) Reid, Randy (Shirley) Reid; a daughter, Koleata (Gray) Joyner; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Elaine Shumate. She attended Southfork Baptist Church. For the past 26 years she has enjoyed wintering in Okeechobee, FL and playing bingo every Monday night. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, January 18, 2013 at Southfork Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Sewell officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the home. Interment will follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, NC. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Southfork Baptist Church, 3830 Wayne Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family wishes to thank the staff of the 2nd floor ICU, Forsyth Medical Center for the compassion and kindness shown to Mrs. Reid during the last week of her illness.
