Barbara McCall Meigs

Barbara McCall Meigs, 86, of Lewisville, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. Born on January 18, 1938, in Easley, SC, she was the daughter of the late Earl Russell and Beatrice Smith McCall. Barbara was a graduate of Easley High School, Class of 1956, and earned her degree from Winthrop University in 1960. Her professional career included 25 years as a Standards Specialist at the National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), where she made significant contributions until her retirement in 2000. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Willard L. Meigs; her two daughters, Cynthia Howard (Gregor) and Carolyn Ferguson (Bill); her son, Stephen Meigs; and her four grandchildren, Stephen Howard (Kelsey), Tyler Howard (Kristina), Kelly Ferguson, and Laura Ferguson. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kay McCall Bowen (Bill). The family will hold a funeral service in Barbara's honor at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel, with a burial service to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.
