Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Mecimore, 91, of Winston-Salem, NC died at Salemtowne Retirement Community on December 13, 2023. Bobbie was born in Winston-Salem, NC on February 10, 1932, to Fleet and Flossie Chiddie who lived on Fleet Street in Winston-Salem for many years. Flossie was also a previous resident of Salemtowne. Bobbie graduated from Griffith High School in Winston-Salem before enrolling at Anderson College for one year. She then attended the Women’s College of UNC in Greensboro, NC. After college she met the love of her life, Charles Mecimore, in 1958 when both worked for the Social Security Administration in Winston-Salem. The two were married for 64 years. They have three children; Laura Gerhardt (spouse Jeb)-Charlotte, NC; Doug Mecimore (spouse Robin)-Southport, NC; and John Mecimore (spouse Jhane)-Sanford, NC. She is also survived by a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Grandchildren are Max Mecimore, Emily Gerhardt, Riley Mecimore Spath (spouse Cameron), Triston Mecimore, Sarah Gerhardt, and Parker Mecimore. Great-grandchildren are Cayden and Tinsley Spath. Bobbie was an accomplished organist and enjoyed playing the organ at various churches over the years. These included churches in Winston-Salem, Elon College, Chapel Hill, Tuscaloosa, AL, Athens, GA, Cincinnati, OH, and Charlotte. Bobbie and Charles moved to Salemtowne in 2014 and have been members of Calvary Moravian Church since 2000. A memorial service will be held in the Smith Saal Room at the Salemtowne Community Center at 3:00 pm on January 14, 2024 (1000 Salemtowne Dr. Winston-Salem, NC).
