Kernersville – Barbara McCartney, 95, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on July 23, 1929, in Upton-upon-Severn, Worcestershire, England to the late Horace and Amy Bertha Evans Sillitoe. Barbara loved to have fun, was the life of the party, and always knew how to enjoy herself. She embraced every moment and found joy in all she experienced, both big and small. Barbara loved to shop and not just anywhere; she loved her Kohl’s. She was well known by all the associates there. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mont McCartney; two sisters, Marge Cook, and Pam Sillitoe; and two brothers, Raymond and Harold Sillitoe.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Shirley (Jack) Skelton, and Deborah Holliday; two sons, David (Fran) McCartney, and Brian McCartney; six grandchildren, Trish (Wayne) Bolding, Nicole (Steve) Taylor, Ryan McCartney, Cody McCartney, Charlie (Laura) Holliday, and Kevin Holliday; nine great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00pm, Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, April 7, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Don Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery following the service.
