Barbara Shutt Kimbro was born to Fred and Ora Shutt on April 18, 1935 and peacefully passed away in the home of her daughter on June 2, 2015. She was surrounded by her children Amanda Barrett and Reggie Kimbro as well as their spouses Don Barrett and Jan Kimbro and several of her grandchildren. She was married to the late Calvin Lee Kimbro on August 10, 1957 at Clemmons United Methodist Church. Barbara graduated from Reynolds High School in 1953 and obtained a B.A. from Bob Jones University in 1957. For 20 years she taught pre-school in both Salem Baptist Day School and Cedar Forest Christian School. For the past 30 years she enjoyed working at Old Salem interpreting much of her own heritage and her faith in Christ alone. She will be remembered as a loving Mother and Grandmother as well as a vital member of Grace Free Presbyterian Church where she served as a pianist for 25 years. Her love for Christ and His people was evidenced by her devotion to hospitality and prayer. In addition to her children, she is survived by seven grandchildren and spouses: Charlie Barrett and fiancé Keegan McNeely, Debbie and Billy Mulder, Fred and Terry Barrett, Eddie and Kristyn Barrett, Tim and Jessica Davis, Keri and Nathan Leatherwood and Erin Kimbro, and by six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 4, 2015 and the family will receive guests prior to the service at 1:00 pm. The family will receive guests again at Grace Free Presbyterian Church on Burke Mill Road from 7:00-8:00 pm on Thursday. Memorials may be given to Grace Free Presbyterian Church, Winston-Salem or to Geneva Reformed Seminary, Greenville SC. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
