Barbara Jean Hoots Howell

Mrs. Barbara Jean Hoots Howell, 79, passed away Wednesday, January 09, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born in Yadkin Co. on September 19, 1933 the daughter of the late George Hoots and Bertha Todd Hoots. Mrs. Howell was a lifelong member of Germanton Baptist Church and retired from Winston-Salem/ Forsyth Co. Schools Transportation Department. She loved to travel, sew and play bingo. Barbara was a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt and the New York Yankees. She always had a big hug and kind word for everyone she met and will be missed dearly by her family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Gean Howell, a son, Keith Howell, one brother, Billy Hoots and two sisters, Jessie Poindexter and her infant twin. Mrs. Howell is survived by a son, Randy Howell and wife Kim of Walnut Cove, a daughter, Lynne Sidden and husband Marty of King, a daughter-in-law, Sue Howell of King, three grandchildren, Lacy Pearson (Ranson), Michael Howell (Mary Beth) and Gina Howell, two great-grandchildren, Reign Pearson and Macie Howell and two sisters, Mary Pace of Hickory and Ann Hauser (Bobby) of Yadkinville. Funeral services for Mrs. Howell will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Germanton Baptist Church in Germanton with Rev. Jeff Stephens and Rev. Chris Hauser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 this evening Friday, January 11, 2013 at Germanton Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials are asked to be made to: Germanton Baptist Playground Fund, 1120 Willow St., Germanton, NC 27019. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Arbor Ridge of Stanleyville for the exceptional care that was shown to their mother.
