Barbara Jean Morgan Futrell

Barbara Jean Morgan Futrell "Bobbie", 93, passed away on Thursday October 24, 2024, at Brookridge Retirement Community. Bobbie was born in Winston-Salem, NC on March 31, 1931, to Ernest Luther Morgan and Stella Potts Morgan, the youngest of eight children. She graduated from John W. Hanes High School where she was active in sports, government and various clubs. Bobbie had several different occupations during her lifetime working in Richmond, VA and Winston-Salem. In July of 1952 she married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Lee Futrell. They were married for nearly 70 years at the time of his passing in 2022. Bobbie was a lifelong member of Burkhead United Methodist Church where she was involved in many Church groups and activities. Bobbie had a deep and profound love for her family. She loved spending time with her children, Grandchildren and Great Grand Children. Some of her most memorable moments were the times the family would get together for vacations, holidays and special occasions. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Komenak, Helen Highfill, Cora Vick, Margaret Culler and brothers William Morgan, Ernest Morgan, Jr., and Charles Morgan. Surviving is her beloved family including her daughter Connie Stockburger (Eric) and their children Nicole and Matthew (Samantha); son Danny Futrell (Nancy) and their children Nathan (Sarah), Natalie Shore (Alex), and great grandchildren Madelyn Futrell, Cooper Futrell, Beau Shore and Skye Shore. Bobbie had a special relationship with her nieces Darla Johnson, Janet Salley, Patti Heath and nephews Harold Vick and Brad Vick. A private family graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Winston-Salem.
