Barbara Ann French

Ms. Barbara Ann French, 75, died February 22, 2017, surrounded by loved ones at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born March 5, 1941, in Schenectady, NY to Gordon William and Ethel (Church) Barnhardt. She attended Utica College in Utica, NY and graduated in 1982. She became a certified public accountant and worked for many years at Dermody, Burke and Brown in Utica, and The Daniel Professional Group, Inc. in Winston-Salem. She also was the founding Board Member and Treasurer for the Oneida County Habitat for Humanity, in addition to serving as a church treasurer and choir member at Grace Church in Utica, NY, Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, and Girl Scout cookie sale Assistant Manager for the NYPENN Pathways council. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and her 3 dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Irene Barnhardt, and ex-husband, James B. French III. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Bierie (Brian) of Winston-Salem, Maria Moses of Akron, OH, Patricia French (Calvin Powers) of Durham, NC, Leslie Seidman (Eric) of Westport, CT, and Elizabeth French (Andrea Flynn) of Culpeper, VA; sons, David French (Melissa) of Pittsburgh, PA and Michael French (Jennifer) of Utica, NY; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ellen Krisanda of Jessup, PA; Frances Knight of Schenectady, NY; and Mona Ray of Cedar Park, TX; and brothers, Gordon Barnhardt of Albany, NY and Robert Barnhardt of Schenectady, NY. She is remembered by many friends and colleagues who treasured her thoughtfulness and wisdom. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
