Barbara Maxine Ellis Davis

Barbara E. Davis, 81, passed away January 7, 2013 from congestive heart failure. A lifelong resident of North Carolina, she was born in Spruce Pine, NC on December 29, 1931 to the late Paul J. and Fern R. Ellis. She was raised in Asheville where she met and later married the late John C. Davis on May 25, 1957. She lived the last 40 years in Davidson County. As her children grew, she began working outside the home retiring as a cashier from the K & W Cafeteria on Peters Creek Parkway in 2004. Filled with compassion and interest in others, Barbara adored her family and friends. Before her health declined she would spend many hours chatting on the phone, reading, and watching her Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed cooking and sharing her goodies with others. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Chuck Davis in 2003 and brother Paul Ray Ellis. Left behind to cherish her memory are daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Larry Evans, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Frances Ellis of Asheville and sister Judie Woody of Murphy. Always a very generous and giving person, it was her wish to donate her body for research in the hopes it would help others. Services will be private per Barbara's request. Her life was blessed to have so many caring doctors, nurses and neighbors who really were her angels. Thank you Dr. John Thomas, Dr. Kerry Gilliland, Forsyth Hospital 6th floor North and 8th floor North staff, Martha and John, Julia and Farrell, Sara, Betsy and Ray, and Brenda. Little Mama, you are sorely missed but I know we will see each other again in Heaven. Memories and online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
