DAVIS WINSTON-SALEM-Ms. Barbara Shelton Davis, 84, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center. Born in Johnstown, PA, she was a true sports enthusiast. She loved her Steelers and was a long suffering Pirates fan. As a teenager, she was an accomplished swimmer and participated in the local Olympic Trials in her hometown. Her love of sports extended to tennis and golf. She took up golf later in life and served several terms as President of the Wilshire Ladies Golf Association and cherished the many friends she made through the sport. Ms. Davis also served as Secretary/Treasurer for several years of the Tiny Greyhound Pop Warner Football team. For this work, she was profiled in an article of ""Coach and Athlete Magazine."" She retired from Raymond Supply Co. where she worked as a bookkeeper and Treasurer of the corporation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. C. Reginald and Henrietta Davis of Johnstown, and a son, Bruce. Left to celebrate her memory are Larry Shelton and wife Lynn of Pfafftown; Todd Shelton of Winston-Salem; four grandsons, T.L. Shelton, Trevor Shelton, J.D. Shelton (Tawni) and Timothy Shelton; three great-grandchildren and her ""Little Fella,"" Tango. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Worth Green officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that contributions be made to the Bruce Shelton Memorial Scholarship c/o The Winston-Salem Foundation, 860 West Fifth St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
