Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Ransome George, 76, died on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home following a brief battle with lung cancer. Bobbie was born on November 18, 1946, in Forsyth County to the late Luther “Cotton” Ransome and Clara Davis Ransome. She grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in 1965. She was a member of Overflow Church and loved her church family.
Bobbie loved her family and her friends fiercely. She was always there to listen and pray and was known as a mighty prayer warrior by those closest to her. After retiring, it was always her joy to spend time with her two grandchildren. Many days were spent together at the pool or at the beach, her “happy place”. More recently, her greatest joy was being with her two great grandsons and spoiling them with candy kisses.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Amy George Berry and husband, Jason; grandson, Jesse Berry and wife Makayla; granddaughter, Emma McCaskell and husband Tanner; two great grandsons, Wade McCaskell and Luke Berry; brother, Terry Ransome, and wife Diane and many very special friends.
A funeral will be held at 12:00 on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the chapel at Hayworth Miller on Silas Creek Parkway with Pastor Bryan Hullette officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior. Committal will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Overflow Church, Building Fund, 8115 Old Lexington Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for the kind and gentle care she received there in her final days. Online condolences may be sent to www.hayworth-miller.com.
