Winston-Salem - Barbara “Bobbie” Ballard Reid, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, November 3, 2024. She was born in Forsyth County on May 17, 1941, to the late Roger and Lillian Smith Ballard. Bobbie was devoted to the lord, and her love for the lord began early in life, she was baptized at age 12. Bobbie married the love of her life, Dean, in 1959, and went on to spend over 65 years together. Her faith drove her passion for being a part of the community and providing love and support for her family. Bobbie was proud of the work she provided to Union Cross Moravian Church, serving as a diener, attending as often as possible, and making prayer wraps for members of the community for comfort. In her free time, Bobbie enjoyed vacationing to the beach, where she found joy in fishing and relaxing on the shoreline. She was an incredibly giving and kind individual, who will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Bobbie is preceded in death by her sister, Loretta Elliott.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard “Dean” Reid Sr.; two sons, Richard Reid, Jr (Susan) and Michael Reid (Kim); five grandchildren, Melena, Dean III, Julianna, Piper (Brad), and Zach (Brooke); two great-grandchildren Lincoln and Jackson; one sister, Pat Pegram; as well as three brothers, Butch Ballard, Kenny Ballard, and Ronnie Ballard.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Union Cross Moravian Church with Rev. Adam Goodrich officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Bobbie will be laid to rest following the service in God’s Acre. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
