Barbara Tucker Bennett

Mrs. Barbara Tucker Bennett 75, of Winston-Salem died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Bennett was born April 22, 1933 in Forsyth County, a daughter of the late Roscoe Tucker and the late Mattie Chappell Tucker. She was retired from the account receivable department of Timmerman Insurance. Mrs. Bennett was one of the first members of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church serving in several capacities, and was a choir member for 54 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Tucker. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, James ""Doc"" Bennett, son, Michael ""Mike"" Bennett and wife Mitzi, daughter, Dawn Bennett Kuehne and husband Don, sister, Sarah McCollem, brother, Paul Tucker and wife Louise, grandchildren, Shemaiah Conti, Jamie Shouse, and Luke Lanning, great-grandchildren, Jesse, Alex, Nick, Jaeden, and Alexis, sister-in-law, Flora Tucker, godchildren, Angie Bethia, Rick Goforth, Lou Elliott, Jody Merritt, and Louie Jones. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church with Rev. John D. Rights officiating. Inurnment will follow in Salem Moravian Graveyard, ""God's Acre"". The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Organ Fund at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church 3401 Konnoak Dr. Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or Hospice and Palliative Care 101 Hospice Ln. Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank the staff of Salem Terrace for the love and care shown to Mrs. Bennett.
