Barbara Ann Garrison Alvarez

Belews Creek-Barbara Ann Garrison Alvarez, 68, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born February 16, 1942 in Osage Co., OK to the late Delno James and Fern Hrabe Garrison. Barbara was a wonderful cook and had a great love for crocheting. She also loved movies, the Sci-Fi Channel and Cops. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Gonzales Alvarez; and a son, Steven Alvarez. Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Leach of Richmond, VA, and Shelly Schelle and husband Paul of Winston Salem; one son, Johnny Alvarez; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Alvarez of TX; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Christy, Lindsey, Ryan, Robert, Chelsy, and Mandy; and one brother, Michael Garrison of OK. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:30pm Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Chaplain Judy Pittman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
