Avis Shearon McKeithan

Avis Shearon McKeithan, 95, passed away on August 29, 2013 at Chatham Nursing Center, Elkin, NC. She was born April 13, 1918 to Alexander Hamilton Shearon and Cassandra Adeline Davis in Wake Forest, NC. Avis graduated from Bunn High School in 1935 and attended Louisburg College from 1937-1938. She worked for Franklin County Farm Agents Office and Wheless Sales Co. She married Wesley Lawrence McKeithan on May 5, 1945. Avis never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. Her major focus was always her family. She was always there when someone needed her. Avis was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and eight sisters. Surviving to cherish her memory are daughter, Pat and Ben Sutliff of Clemmons, NC; daughter, Dee Ripley of Elkin, NC; son, Larry and Florence McKeithan of Nashville, TN; and daughter, Sara and Mark Harms of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Chris and Jim Varner of St. Louis, MO and children, Lauren, Jimmy, Caroline and Katie; Sue and Quimby McCaskill of Fort Mill, SC and children, Colby and Sara; David and Katherine Sutliff of Virginia Beach, VA; Merritt Bender and Adam Ripley and son, James Ripley of Asheville, NC; Ellen and Tony Pometto of Elkin, NC and children, Christopher and Emily; Wesley McKeithan of San Diego, CA; Mary Florence McKeithan of New York, NY. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 20, 2013 at Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig Ford officiating.
