Mr. Avery ""Bud"" Pike, Sr., 97, of Clemmons, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his home. He was born February 26, 1919 in Hudson County, NJ to Hallie Wilson Pike and James Henry Pike. Mr. Pike was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during World War II and an active member of the V.F.W. Post #9010. He was a faithful member of Center Grove Baptist Church for over 23 years and retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture. He was a faithful husband, father and grandfather and was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Pauline ""Polly"" Beshears Pike; two children, Avery L. Pike, Jr. (Jean) of Courtney and Dawn Thompson (Phil) of Boonville; four grandchildren, Laura Hardy, Cameron Phillips, Mike Pike and Pat Pike and four great grandchildren, Avery Pittman, Kensley Phillips, Jace Phillips and Jessica Pike. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Center Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Corts officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Center Grove Baptist Church, 8750 Lasater Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012.
