Ava Juanita Moore Marshall

RURAL HALL, NC Mrs. Ava Juanita Moore Marshall, 104, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at Oak Forest Health & Rehabilitation in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born in Rural Hall, NC on June 27, 1907 to the late William Gabriel Moore and Minnie Gilmore Moore. Mrs. Marshall spent her early years in Moore's Springs, NC. She married Henry Vance Marshall Sr. on May 15, 1929. To this union was born Henry Vance Marshall Jr., William ""Bill"" Moore Marshall, and Karl Madison Marshall. Mrs. Marshall was a housewife and was known for her cooking and hospitality. She was a member of Rural Hall Church of Christ, where she served in several capacities including the head of the nursery for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her husband, Vance on January 18, 2001; two sons, Henry and William; four brothers; and one sister. Surviving are one son and three daughters-in-law: Karl (Barbara) Marshall of Paris, IL, Willie Mae Marshall of Raleigh, NC and Martha ""Marty"" Ann Marshall of Winston-Salem, NC; five grandsons: Ty (Kathy) Marshall of Salisbury, NC, Tobi (Laura) Marshall of Winston-Salem, NC, Todd Marshall of Chicago, IL, Trent (Lauri) Marshall of Mt. Vernon, IL and Troy Marshall of Chicago, IL; one granddaughter, Tonya (Glenn) Oliver of Apex, NC; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; one sister, Alma Huber of Aiken, SC; and also, numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Rural Hall Church of Christ with the Rev. Charles R. Beasley officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Salem Chapel Christian Church Cemetery in Walnut Cove. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall and again following the service at Rural Hall Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Rural Hall Church of Christ, 435 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045 or Salem Chapel Christian Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1085, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
