Augustus Robert ""Pee-Wee"" Gary, born June 10, 1930 to Jack and Amanda Gary, who proceeded him in death. Pee-Wee was born in Americus, GA. He is the second eldest of nine siblings. Augustus Gary came to New York at the age of 17, where he started work. He became a Marine and served during the time of the Korean War. He then moved to Seattle Washington where he worked at Republic as an Aircraft mechanic for 20 years. Augustus returned to New York and worked for NYC transit as a conductor and retired as a motor man. He was married twice, first to Martha Brock, then to Dorothy Wilson (whom they divorced but remained close friends throughout his life.) Augustus Robert Gary was a tender, loving man, who also didn't take any mess. He enjoyed bowling, Tiger Woods and especially going to the race track. Augustus Gary was preceded in death by two of nine siblings Johnny ""Fat Daddy"" of FarRockaway, NY and Willabelle James of Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by his daughters Roxanne Higdon of Raleigh,NC, Darlene Wynter of Long Island City, NY and Shiela Gary of Roosevelt, NY; grandchildren Fatima Wyches, Theodore Chatfield, Christopher Gary, Kimberly James, Sabrina Smith, Francesca Laurent; three sisters, Mildred Gary of Winston-Salem, Amanda Baldwin of Orlando, FL, and Annabelle Barcot of Winston-Salem, and three brothers, Arthur Gary of Jamaica, NY, Ellis Gary of Laurellton, NY and Isaiah Gary of East Brooklyn, NY; and a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 am Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Higdon officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123..
