Mr. Augburn Monroe Choplin, 87, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at his home. Mr. Choplin was born April 8, 1921 in Yadkin County, a son of then late John W. Choplin and the late Amelia Blakely Choplin. He was a US Army veteran serving during WW II and was retired from AT&T with 25 years of service. He was a faithful and active member of First United Church of Christ. In addition to his parent,s he was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Baity Choplin, and five brothers, Charlie, Howard, Hubert, J.W., and Tommy Mr. Choplin is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eris Davenport Choplin, daughters, Renee Choplin and Janelizabeth Bruce; sisters, Annie Pearl Hutchins and Dorothy Potter; grandson, Dustin Isenhour; and great-grandson, Hunter Isenhour. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Elizabeth Horton officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Church of Christ 1912 Waughtown St. Winston-Salem 27107 or Hospice and Palliative Care 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, 27103. The family would like to thank Dr. Susan Hines, the Hospice nurses and the Bayada nurses, for their love, care and support.
