""My day has come. I have gone home to be with Ralph. I will suffer no more for thou art with me."" Mrs. Audrey Arlene Stewart Montgomery, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011. She was born January 5, 1926 in Surry County to Alexander Leroy Stewart, Sr. and Bessie Ella Flinchum Stewart. Mrs. Montgomery retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. Arlene loved her family, her bowling family of 44 years and sports. She was a very outspoken lady! She was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Roy, Glenn, Roger and an infant brother. She was also predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John Ralph Montgomery. Surviving are a daughter, Donna Reavis (Ronald); a son, Gary Montgomery (Linda); two grandsons, R. Keith Shields (Laura) and J. Clay Simmons; three great grandchildren, Delaney Shields, Cary Shields, Maddie Adkins-Simmons; one brother, A.L. Stewart, Jr. (Mary Lou); two sister in laws, Alene Sewart and Irene Tucker and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are step grandchildren as well as step great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Bill Chatman officiating. The family will receive friends before and after the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hills Grove Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain.
