Audrey Nell Absher

Mrs. Audrey Nell Absher, age 82, passed away peacefully June 6, 2011 at her home in Winston-Salem where she lived for 58 years. Nell was born April 4, 1929 to the late Arthur Elbert and late Annie Sherrill Vannoy in Watauga County, NC. Nell was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always gave generously to all she knew. She had a love for cooking and doing crafts, and loved to share her creations with her friends and loved ones. She was particularly well-known for her delicious homemade bread, which she kept her friends and family supplied with for years. She also cooked meals to share as a volunteer with Meals-On-Wheels in Winston-Salem for many years. Nell loved spending time in Boone, NC where she grew up and always enjoyed going back to see relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Nell was preceded in death by a beloved son, Larry Absher. Nell is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert ""Bob"" Mack Absher of the home. Two sons: James Absher and wife Debbie of Rural Hall and Kevin Absher and wife Debbie of Kernersville. Four grandchildren: Jimmy and wife Jessica, Dwayne and wife Kisha, Justin and Ryan Absher. Four great grandchildren; Trevor, Kyndal, Kylie and Leanna Absher. One brother, Hal Vannoy and wife Fran of Lenoir, NC and two nephews. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem with the Rev. Matthew Allen officiating. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Wednesday evening June 8th from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
