Athelene Betty Cheek Fulton

Mrs. Athelene Betty Cheek Fulton, 87, passed away September 15, 2023, at her home. She was born July 6, 1936, in Yadkin County to the late Dolphus Winfield Cheek and Oma Groce Cheek. Athelene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Marshall Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed planting flowers and taking day trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway and to the Smoky Mountains. In addition, she enjoyed taking trips to the beach with family and spent many long days on the Carolina Beach Fishing Pier. Athelene loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she spent a lot of time and was very close. She also loved listening to her family play music. In addition to her parents, Athelene is preceded in death by her son, Paul Timothy “Tim” Fulton; and five siblings, Lois Cheek, Inez Waddell, Bill Cheek, Margaret Shore, JW Cheek. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Paul Benjamin Fulton; two children, Daniel Fulton and Carol Fulton Hsu (Michael); two grandchildren, James Hsu and Julia Hsu; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to say thank you to a special niece, Margie Gordy and special friends, Arnold and Gracie Lasseter and Judy Sipes. A graveside service will be conducted for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marshall Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
