Winston-SalemMr. Asa ""Ike"" Martin Icenhour, 87, passed away July 5, 2012 at his home. He was born December 23, 1924 in Alexander County to the late Willis Dwight and Minnie Warren Icenhour. He was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and the Telephone Pioneers. Mr. Icenhour was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and later retired from Western Electric with over 40 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, golf, horseback riding, and was a master gardener. Preceding him in death were three brothers and two sisters. Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Doris Sloan Icenhour; five children, Jamie M. Icenhour of Greensboro, Debbie Tucker (Doug), Sandy Shelton (Merle), Kim Reich (Garry), and Janis Mitchell (Ronnie) all of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Jeff, Amanda, Emily, Christopher, and Brinlee; four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Holden, Jackson, and Chance; also surviving is a brother, Jearl Icenhour (Geraldine) of Winston-Salem and three sisters, Margie Spry, Patsy Bentley, and Blenda Icenhour all of Taylorsville, NC. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Mahathey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30- 3:00 prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church 3543 Robinhood Rd.
