Arturo Farias

Arturo Farias, 97, passed away at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born in La Habana, Cuba to Daniel Farias and Mercedes Lazcano. He graduated from the University of La Habana with a Juris Doctor degree and practiced law until he came to the United States. In the States, he taught Spanish at Wilkes Central High School for many years. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Maria Teresa Farias, one daughter, Mayra Villalon (husband-Felipe) and grandchildren, John and Teresa Villalon. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Thursday, May 2 at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home in Silas Creek. There will be a brief prayer service at 7:00pm. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 1730 Link Road. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church. Condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
