Arthur Alston Tuten of Clemmons passed from this life on Sunday, January 9, 2011. Mr. Tuten retired in 1989 from the administrative staff of North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was also a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was born in Savannah, Ga to Herbert and Ida Barker Tuten on April 9, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William H. Tuten. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan Anthony Tuten; sisters, Lorraine Gittings of Bradenton, Fl, and Ramona Thornton of Columbus, Ga.; daughter, Susanne Schiess also of Clemmons; sons, Al Tuten (Lynn) of New Hope, Va, and Herb Tuten (Sabrina) of Lewisville; grandchildren, Tony Schiess (Michelle) of Denver, Co., Laura Schiess of Winston-Salem, Blake Tuten of Greensboro, Bobby Tuten of New Hope, Va; six nieces, and nephews and their families. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Clemmons United Methodist Church, in Clemmons. Friends are welcome to remain afterward in the Commons Area to greet the family.
