Mr. Arthur ""Bud"" Smith, 88 years old loved life here on Earth so much, that he defied death many times in the past year⦠just so he could return to his wife, Kathy of 64 years, and his children; Patrice, Suzanne, Amanda (Charlie), and Scott (Rosemary). His grandkids; Katie, Kevin, Ellie, Cody, Dyer, Austin, Barrett, Hannah and Jacob; his niece, Reba Ann Gibson (Kenneth), and even THEIR kids rallied around him for months. However, he just wanted to stay and visit. Finally, when his old body could no longer produce conversation, he let God himself take over to start his new life in Heaven. A World War II veteran, an educator for 49 years, a florist for 48 years, Bud was the third child of Reba Elsie (Cabe) and Arthur Viven Smith of Haywood County. His siblings, Jack and John Smith, Nan Freeman, Teenie Sutton, and Fannie Parris are celebrating with him now. Only his sister, Colleen Oxner, is left to make that last journey. Please join us for a memorial service at 1:00pm, Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at College Park Baptist Church, 1701 Polo Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106. Afterwards, celebrate his full life with those who loved him from 2:00 - 4:00pm in Smith Hall at the church.
