WINSTON SALEM - Mr. Arthur James Linville, 86, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at his home. Arthur was born June 10, 1926 in Forsyth County to the late George Washington and Mattie Ziglar Linville. He retired from RJ Reynolds where he was employed as a mechanic for over 36 years and was a member of Glenn View Baptist Church. Arthur proudly served in the US Army as a Tec 4 in WWII under General Douglas MacArthur in Company M, 130 Infantry, 33rd Division, serving in the Philippines and Japan. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Helen Chambers Linville; nine brothers and six sisters. Surviving are his daughter, Karen Alicia Davis (husband, William); two sons, James Ronald 'Ron' Linville (wife, Alice) of Union Cross, and Robin Arthur 'Rob' Linville (wife, Amy) of Pfafftown; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one sister. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with the Reverends Bill Coleman and Johnny Gupton. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:30 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or The WAR Memorial Foundation - 'Carolina Field of Honor' Triad Park (gift designated 'Memory of Arthur Linville), 600 N. Regional Road, Greensboro, NC 27409.
