Arthur Orin Gandy, Sr.

WALKERTOWN-Arthur Orin Gandy, Sr., 80, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born December 20, 1934 in Pensacola, FL to the late Nellie Jane Benson Gandy and Hampton Evander Gandy, Sr. Arthur was a United States Marine veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and retired from AT&T formerly Bell South. He was active for many years with the Walkertown Booster Club coaching both football and baseball. He loved to dance and on the dance floor he met his second love, best friend, and caregiver Louise Nelson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Delores Temples Gandy; and 12 brothers and sisters. Surviving are his daughter, Elaine (Lynn) Bailey of Wilmington; son, Arthur O. (Wendy) Gandy, Jr. of Walkertown; grandchildren, Brandon and Justin Bailey, and Jarod Gandy; companion, Louise Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
