Kernersville - Mr. Arthur Lee Freeman age 94 of Kernersville passed away Friday, November 21, 2008 at his home. He was born October 11, 1914 in Forsyth County. He was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church for many years holding numerous positions. His lifetime commitment to the church was shown through volunteering his labor and time to maintain the church. Arthur served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of Salem Masonic Lodge # 289 A.F. & A.M., an avid gardener, a retired plumber and a Union member for over 60 years. In addition to his parents Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by a brother John Freeman and a sister Polly Robertson. Surviving are two daughters Norma Freeman of Winston-Salem and Mona Terrell and husband Richard of Kernersville, two grandchildren Tracie Ronchetti and husband John of Kernersville, and Chris Terrell and Trish Barrington of Charlotte, two great-grandchildren Addie and Leah Ronchetti, two sisters, Earshlie Hall Freeman and Gladys Phipps, a brother, Harding Freeman. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, November 24, 2008 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with Rev Ellis Rouse and Rev Phil Bauguess officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston Salem. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville.
