Arnold "Arnie" Sherman, Sr.

Kernersville – Mr. Arnold “Arnie” F. Sherman, Sr. 77, loving husband and father went home to be with his Savior October 11, 2020. Arnie was born March 27, 1943 in Keene, New Hampshire to the late Charlotte Buffum and Kenneth Marshall Sherman.

He served in the US Navy from 1960-1963. For most of his career he served as a locksmith for the banking industry. On August 7, 1962 he married Barbara J. Sandgren of Falls Church, VA. They raised two daughters and one son.  Arnie loved music and his family. He sang in the church choir and was a faithful member of his church for many years.

Surviving are his loving wife, Barbara Sherman, two daughters, Cindy Lawson (Michael) and Debra Sherman; son Arnold Jr. “Jay” (Randa); sister Evelyn; brother Donnie, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall with Pastor Jon White. Due to limitations for public gatherings, Mr. Sherman will be available for viewing in the church sanctuary from 11:00 – 11:45 AM prior to the service. Burial will be at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston Salem. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Sherman family.
