Mr. Arnold Gray Moore, age 80 of King passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at Village Care of King. He was born in Surry County, May 29, 1936 to Lester Emmitt Moore and Lottie Lee Simpson Moore. Arnold was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in King, worked 41 years in the grocery business and had sixteen years of service with Harris Teeter Store in Winston-Salem. Arnold graduated from Copeland High School in Surry County. In addition to his parents Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche Moore, two sisters; Hazel Moore and Mary Bledsoe. One brother, Lonnie Moore, one step-son, Larry Moose, Jr. and one step-grandson, Brian Holyfield. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of fourteen years of marriage, Vurlia Moore of the home. One sister, Geraldine Flippin, three step-daughters; Judy (Charles) Holyfield, Carol (Larry) Royall and Sherry (Tim) Phillips. One step-son, Darrell (Kimberly) Moose. Several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Moore will be held Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church in King by Rev. Kevin Broyhill and Speaker Kerry Sheppard. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church Thursday evening April 27th from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. The family would like to extend at very special Thank You to the staff at Priddy Manor and Village Care of King for all their caring support they gave during Mr. Moore's stay.
