Arlyss Kenneth Smitty" Smith

SMITH - RURAL HALL Mr. Arlyss Kenneth ""Smitty"" Smith, 80, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1929 in Surry County to the late Ransy P. Smith and Lelia Harris Smith. Mr. Smith was the owner of Smith Mobile Home Park. He had a deep passion and love for animals. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Smith. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Melrose Ramey Smith; one daughter, Melany Smith Dean; one son, Brian Smith; one grandson, Dustin Dean; and one sister, Nova Martin all of whom are from Winston-Salem. Mr. Smith is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Elder Paul Hopkins officiating. Entombment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Monday, October 12 at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Mr. Smith's doctors and nurses; and a special thank you to his nurse Crystal.
