Arlene Cardwell Pinkston, passed away quietly on Thursday, January 26, 2017. Arlene had battled Alzheimers for 9 years. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Sherwood Pinkston (Pinky), brother, Howard Cardwell, brother Odell Cardwell, brother Bruce Cardwell, brother Don Cardwell and sister Opal Cardwell Walters. Surviving are her children, Ronnie and Sandy; two grandsons, Will (21) and Max (17); and a sister, Barbara Cardwell Owen Arlene graduated from Gray High School in Winston-Salem and spent 38 years at Western Electric on Old Lexington Road before retiring. Arlene and Pinky moved to Lake Norman 21 years ago to help raise their two grandsons, Will and Max. Arlene was a fun-loving woman and touched so many people in so many ways. Pinky has been waiting patiently for her and now she has returned to him and her beloved brothers and sister. Will and Max were able to be with her during her final days and this gave her peace to go home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gordon Hospice House, Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, Administrative office 2347 Simonton Rd Statesville NC 28625.
